Works on paper
Kieff applies to paper the techniques he acquired from the canvas as well as sculpture and constructs what has been described as a “mystical universe of pictorial poetry”, blending watercolor’s unique nuances with tones from Spanish folklore songs.
In his series Ovillos (wool yarn), Kieff explores the idea of an infinite cosmos. A combination of graphite, pastel, oil and acrylic, they invite the viewer to a universal folkloric poetry.
Critical of his own work and with a sense of romantic freedom, Kieff understood that art, in all its disciplines, was transforming him into a “dreamer of independence”.
“The only thing that truly matters is freedom, in all of its forms. Without it, we are no one and nothing. This is my inner struggle and hope to someday achieve it”.
